Do you know what this is?

It's canvas with wire hoops inside that keep it round.

It looks like it might collapse, but it doesn't.

It's got straps, handles, Velcro loops, and grass stains.

Is it yours?  Are you missing something from your garage?  Has it been missing for six months?

It's back in my yard again this morning.  It came blowing up my street from the south one day and the wind stopped blowing just in time for it to stop at my house.

I set it out at the curb, hoping whoever it belonged to would come pick it up.  It sat there a week.

I put it out with the trash, but the garbage collectors didn't pick it up.  I did this twice a week until another wind storm blew it further south into someone else's yard.

And now it's been blown from the north back into my yard.

I really don't want it.

It has, however, made me think about how difficult it is to throw away a trash can or something that looks like a trash can.  It can be rusted, dented, torn, smelly, and sitting out at the curb and the collectors will not ever pick it up.

You can duct tape a note on it that says, "I'm throwing this away, please collect it with the trash."  It remains at the curb.

You can stand out there and hand it to the fella, and he'll look inside it and set it back down rather than tossing it into the trash truck.

So, here's what I want to know from you, dear readers -

Do you have this problem too?

How do you dispose of unwanted trash cans?

Do you want this thing that blows up and down my street?  If you live near me and want it, just drop on by and load it up.  Please!!!

Any advice is most welcome.

I think that trash can is just issuing it's right to freedom of speech (in the form of laying around in your yard) and is doing its form of Occupy Wall Street. He (I'm sure it is a male trash can because it is stubborn and keeps coming back no matter how much you kick it out)is calling it Occupy Beth's Trash with its mantra being Down with residential greed! We want equal trash space!!

Okay, I may have gotten carried away.... :-)

I cannot improve on Alisa's comment. I would bet no one can!!! HA!!

I didn't come from our house... and I don't want it.
Maybe you should put it in a big trash bag. Or cut it up in pieces and put it in a trash bag.
Or see if a blog reader comes along....

Wait for the "sanitation engineers" to come, then give them some money to take it.

Good idea Nancy. I guess if I cut the canvas off the metal hoops I could get it in my own trash can. ONe of my friends commented on the FB link to cart it to a dumpster. I could give it to Grant for Christmas. He'll put it in the dumpster at his apartments and everyone will be legal! LOL

I guess that's why the fella just set it back down. There wasn't any motivation sitting in the bottom of the container. You would think of something like that. LOVED the gorgeous photo's you posted on FB, by the way. They were stunning.
